Abstract

Active carbon used for the preparation of BaCl2/AC catalyst was pretreated by different acid/base solutions, and the effect of different pretreatment oncatalytic performance was studied. The results showed that the catalyst derived from active carbon pretreated by 0.1 mol/L ammonia solution was the best one (BaCl2/AC-A(0.1)). Comparing with BaCl2/AC-F, derived from non-pretreated active carbon, the tetrachloroethane conversion over BaCl2/AC-A(0.1) raised by 6.88%, trichloroethylene selectivity and yield increased 2.57% and 8.46%, respectively. The results of stability test showed that ammonia solution pretreatment could improve catalytic activity and stability, and the supported BaCl2 could improve catalytic activity. Under the same optimal conditions, the conversion of tetrachloroethane over BaCl2/AC-A (0.1) was 5% higher than that of the industry catalyst with similar trichloroethylene selectivity.
