Abstract
According to the broadband digital records obtained from the Japanese National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), the main factors of long-period ground motion with two spectral parameters, i. e. the average acceleration response spectral period (Tr) and the mean Fourier spectral period (Tm), were analyzed. With the calculation theory of double inflection point source about Tm, the relationship between the ratio of peak acceleration and velocity (xa/v) and Tr was studied. The results show that the site conditions, propagation distance and earthquake magnitude are the main factors to the formation of long-period ground motion. Tr is suitable for the evaluation of long-period ground motion. Tr and xa/v decay in an exponential function pattern. The fitting coefficients with three earthquake magnitudes of 6.1, 7.2 and 9.0 are provided.
