Abstract
The stabilization of Cr in environmental protection functional materials, which was produced from chemical sludge incineration ash (CSIA) was investigated. A self-developed stabilizer (ZMN) was added into the CSIA to investigate the solidification and stabilization of Cr during the high-temperature sintering process. The release potential and leaching behavior of Cr in sintered CSIA was further evaluated using the three-step sequential extraction procedure proposed by the commission of the European Communities Bureau of Reference (BCR corrections). And XRD technique was used to monitor the phase formation during the burning of the CSIA. The results showed that the residue fraction of Cr in the sintered product was up to 98% with the addition of ZMN stabilizer. ZMN stabilizer considerably strengthened the solidification of Cr in the sintered product. It also increased the total acid buffering capacities and total antioxidant capacity of environmental protection functional materials. The XRD analysis showed the appearance of calcium chromium phosphate, magnesium spinel and sodium calcium feldspar, which was helpful to reduce the dissolution of Cr.
