Abstract
In the current work, based on the classical lamination theory, an analytical model of the effective engineering constants of the composite laminate is proposed. This model is not only applicable to the prediction of effective engineering constants of symmetric angle-lay laminate but also of asymmetric laminate. Meanwhile, taking the carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (CNTRC) laminate as an example, the effective Poisson's ratio is predicted for the two types of anti-symmetrical and symmetrical lamination angle. The calculation results show that CNTRC laminate can exhibit a negative Poisson's ratio by choosing specific lamination angle.
