Abstract

Chemical reaction and separation are the keys of the chemical and petrochemical production process. Resource waste, energy waste and environmental pollution problems caused by the low reaction and separation efficiency has become increasingly prominent and the bottleneck problem related to the industrial sustainable development. Process intensification by the reaction and membrane coupled processes has become an important research and development direction of technology field. This article presents a review of the present progress of intensification of heterogeneous catalytic processes based on the microscale dispersion and separation effect of porous ceramic membrane. The design and development and some important industrial applications of porous ceramic membrane reactor are introduced. Finally, brief concluding remarks on porous ceramic membrane reactors are given and possible future research is also discussed.
