Abstract

In order to study the effects of span-depth ratio of coupling beam on the seismic response of frame-core tube structures, the numerical models were established by using PERFORM-3D, and the nonlinear analysis of the frame-core tube structure with various span-depth ratio of coupling beam were conducted. Firstly, the effect of span-depth ratio of coupling beam on the natural period of structure was investigated. Then, during the analysis, the structural deformation and ductility(including inter-story drifts, the story displacement, the story shear force and the development of structural plastic damage), structural energy dissipation ability and so on, were used as measures for structural seismic performance. The results show that different span-depth ratio of coupling beam has a certain impact on natural period of structure; structural energy dissipation is mainly taken by the coupling beams, and the energy dissipation capacity of coupling beam with different span-depth ratio is different. On this basis, some valuable suggestions about reasonable span-depth ratio of coupling beam are put forward into practical application.
