Abstract

With the rapid development in research, innovation, and policy interest in recent years, biosynthetic technology and bioprocess engineering have rapidly developed. Synthetic biology combines the disciplines of biology and engineering to design and create new biological systems to perform functions that are not found in nature. This chapter represents the most advanced and comprehensive development in biosynthetic technology, including not only genetic engineering but also cell engineering and enzyme engineering. Furthermore, bioprocessing technologies were summarized and discussed.
