Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Future targets: Quantum-chemical calculations predict that the experimentally still unknown carbodicarbenes C(NHC) 2 (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene; see picture for example) are a synthetically accessible class of divalent carbon(0) compounds which are very strong nucleophiles and bases that may be useful ligands for transition-metal complexes.
