Cure and mechanical properties of Sm2O3/EPDM composites

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This work covered the samarium oxide filled with ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), the effect of curing temperature and cure time on the mechanics of the composites was studied. It shows as the samarium oxide content increases, the scorch time of the Sm2O3/EPDM also increases, the samarium oxide can reinforce the mechanical properties of Sm2O3/EPDM, when the filler reaches to 40 phr. 100 EPDM, the mechanical properties appears best of all. The samarium oxide treated by couple agent of KH-845-4 can accelerate the process of cure and the sample's mechanical properties are improved farther.
