Abstract

Alkanolamine is one of the important chemical compositions of cement chemical additive, i.e., triethanolamine (TEA), triisopropanolamine (TIPA), N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl) isopropanolamin (EDIPA), etc.. This paper summarized the basic properties of alkanolamines and their influence on the Portland cement hydration process. In addition, the impact of alkanolamine like TEA, TIPA and DEIPA on the portland cement hydration process and the mechanism was discussed.
