Abstract

Al2(1-x)Mgx Ti1+xO5-δ (x=0-0.25) ceramic were prepared by hot-press sintering method at 1350-1550°C in Argon atmosphere with α-Al2O3, anatase TiO2 and MgO followed the constitution of Al2(1-x)MgxTi1+xO5. Effect of sintering temperature and MgO additive on the densification of the material and oxygen vacancy which was a kind of structure defect were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetry (TG). The mechanism was simply discussed. The results showed that MgO additive has little impact to the densification and the consistency of oxygen vacancy. The rise of the sintering temperature was beneficial to the increment of the value of δ, as it raised from 0.025 at 1350°C to 0.058 at 1550°C.
