Abstract

In order to improve the membrane filtration performance of liquid-solid phase submerged membrane reactor, three kinds of external turbulence promoters were designed for flux enhancement. Effects of the configuration and rotation rate of the turbulence promoters on the membrane flux were investigated, and the experimental results indicated that the membrane flux could be enhanced with the introduction of rotary turbulence promoters. The propeller turbulence promoter was found to be more effective than the others. The membrane flux was increased with the increase of rotation rate of turbulence promoter. The method of flux enhancement with external turbulence promoter was also suitable for high particle concentration filtration.
