Abstract

Effects of filler's shape (fiber and particle) and size (d = 10μm-60μm; l = 50μm-600μm) on the tribological properties of wollastonites filled PTFE composites were studied. The results show that PTFE composites filled with particle-shaped filler have better wear resistance than the composites filled with the same size of fiber under lower load. Meanwhile, under the same condition, PTFE composites filled with smaller size of wollastonite fiber exhibit better wear resistance than the fiber filled composites with bigger size. However, the results are different absolutely when the tests are under higher load condition. PTFE composites filled with bigger size and fiber-shaped of wollastonite exhibit better wear resistance.
