Abstract
Ce 3+/Bi 3+ codoped Sr 2SiO 4:Dy 3+ phosphors were prepared by the solid-state reaction method using NH 4Cl as the flux. Their phase compositions, photoluminescence properties and the energy transfer processes were systematically investigated. The composition-induced phase transition of (Sr 0.99-xR x) 2SiO 4:Dy 3+ (R = Ce 3+/Bi 3+) powders was dependent on the radius of doped ions and their concentrations. The doping of smaller ions was beneficial to the formation of α′-Sr 2SiO 4. The luminescence intensity of Dy 3+ was enhanced 2 or 3 times by the sensitization of Bi 3+/Ce 3+ through the electric multipoles interaction. The bright white light was observed from the Sr 2SiO 4:Dy,Bi phosphors with stable CIE chromaticity coordinates. This phosphor has great potential to act as a single-matrix phosphor for white light emitting diodes.
