Abstract

This investigation is performed to see the creep effect on the performance of glulam beam under different conditions, including different stresses (i.e. 30% and 50% of ultimate strength), different experimental environments (i.e. constant temperature and humidity, indoor and outdoor) and different reinforced methods. A detailed study on bending creep behaviour of glulam beam is presented. Through the experiment, creep law of the glulam beam was analyzed, and the experimental results were discussed. After building the bending model, the creep data was fit, the creep deflection curve and relative creep deflection curve were drawn, followed by a prediction about the relative creep deformation in 50 years. The results showed the creep performance can be greatly improved with the reinforced material.
