Abstract

Visible cracking deformations which may badly impact the durability of paving concrete have been found in Donghai County. Several analytical methods, such as XRD, DSC/TG and petrography, were carried out to characterize the raw materials and core rods of the concrete. The results demonstrate that soundness of both cement and concrete are qualified. However, strength of damaged paving concrete appears to be a bit low while the base of pavement is still in good condition. According to these results, cracking may be caused by temperature curling stress together with dynamic external loading stress on low-strength concrete.
