Abstract

A new heavy gas dispersion model LTA-HGDM (Heavy Gas Dispersion Model in Laminar and Turbulent Atmosphere) is developed, which can simulate the heavy gas cloud dispersion process in both laminar and turbulent atmosphere environment, on the basis of analyzing the existing models. Using the LTA-HGDM model, seven Throney Island Trials, which are different from each other in environment conditions, are simulated. The simulation results of LTA-HGDM, IIT Heavy Gas Model, HEGADAS model, MARIAH model, Cox model, Eidsvik model and the test data are compared with each other. And the comparison result indicates that the LTA-HGDM has the advantages of simplicity, good simulation precision and quick calculation. Through analyzing and discussing the simulation results, the disadvantages of LTA-HGDM and the main research contents and directions in the future in the field are pointed out.
