Abstract

Researchers report a yolk–shell carbon nanospheres (YSCNs) with a microporous shell, a mesoporous core, and a large void between them. In comparison with their hollow spheres counterparts, the yolk–shell structures feature in high sulfur storage in small molecule allotropes status in both yolk and shell to effective blockage of soluble LiPSs. The researchers use these YSCNs to host sulfur to prepare sulfur impregnated yolk–shell carbon nanosphere (S-YSCNs) S-YSCNs) and test their Li–S battery performance.
