Abstract

This paper presents an improved surface charge simulation for computation of three-dimensional capacitance. In this method, each curved surface on which the charge is distributed is divided into a number of curved surface elements instead of planar elements. The surface shape of each element is approximated by a quadratic formula. The capacitance of a shielding ring and a plane against ground is calculated using this improved surface charge simulation method. The computed capacitance values of these configurations agree well with the measured data.
