Abstract

Node localization technology has an extremely important position in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), and the mutual transmission of information in WSNs is meaningless without localization. Since GPS circuit hardware is expensive and has a high demand for sensor energy, making the sensors increase the cost of maintenance, and when the wireless network is deployed on a large scale, the hardware cost becomes considerable. WSN localization techniques can be broadly classified into two categories: range-based and range-less, as the latter is widely used in various fields due to its low hardware requirements. The DV-Hop algorithm is one of the most commonly used WSN localization techniques without range. In this paper, we propose improvements to the DV-Hop algorithm to address the shortcomings of each of the three aspects of the algorithm and conduct simulation experiments through Matlab to verify that the improved algorithm significantly reduces the positioning error compared with the traditional algorithm.
