Abstract

Due to non-ideal behavior of acetic acid-water system, non-ideality of vapor- and liquid-phases were corrected taking acetic acid association into consideration. A thermodynamics model containing association component was applied to simulate distillation process. Reported VLE data under 101.325 kPa were used to calculate the distillation process through which suitable VLE data were selected. Different thermodynamics models were used to correlate the selected data. Effects of different thermodynamics models used in simulation calculation were analyzed. The results of this study could be used for technology modification of acetic acid distillation tower.
