Abstract

Four types of film forming materials were used in graphene fire resistive coatings to investigate the fire protection, smoke suppression, water resistance and physical properties by corresponding tests. Firstly, weather resistance of emulsions was tested and evaluated. Additionally, distribution state of graphene in the emulsion was conducted by precipitation method test, particle size distribution test and contact angle test, respectively. The impact test and adhesion test were carried out to evaluate physical properties of coatings. TGA was used to studied thermal stability of coatings and SEM was carried out to analyze the microstructure of carbon layers. The results demonstrated graphene could well dispersed in vac-veova emulsion and the corresponding graphene fire resistive coating performed best in fire protection, smoke suppression, thermal stability and water resistance. Although silicone acrylic emulsion exhibited poor weather resistance, graphene fire resistive coating contained silicone acrylic emulsion performed better in the adhesion test and impact test due to the silicon element.
