Abstract
The loss mechanisms and the loss kinetics of MoO3 on MoO3/Al2O3 and MoO3/SiO2 catalysts are studied in this paper. It is found that the loss of MoO3 is caused by the reaction of molybdenum species on the surface of the catalysts with water. The loss kinetics of MoO3 are the same on both catalysts and can be expressed as r=k VCa3.5. But the loss of MoO3 is smaller on MoO3/Al2O3 than on MoO3/SiO 2, which is related to the strength of interactions between molybdenum trioxide and the supports.
