Abstract
The structure and properties of low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) modified through ultraviolet irradiation in air and the Compatibilization of modified LLDPE were studied by FT-IR, XRD, SEM and mechanical properties test. The oxygen containing groups such as C-O, C=O and -OH were introduced onto LLDPE chains through ultraviolet irradiation in air. Compared with LLDPE, the space of crystal plane of modified LLDPE did not change. However, its tensile strength and elongation at break decreased. The nylon 66/modified LLDPE composites were prepared. The compatibility between the modified LLDPE and nylon 66 was well and modified LLDPE showed batterer Compatibilization and toughening effect. The notched impact strength, tensile strength and bending strength of nylon 66/modified LLDPE composites increased by about 130%, 30% and 27% compared with those of nylon 66/LLDPE composites.
