Abstract

Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) data for acetic acid-N-methylpyrrolidone and water-acetic acid-N-methylpyrrolidone systems was measured at 101.33 kPa using an improved Rose still. The quality of the measured binary data was verified by using the thermodynamic consistency test. The binary data was correlated by NRTL, Wilson and UNIQUAC models and the interaction parameters were got. The 6 groups of NRTL interaction parameters from the literatures for water-acetic acid system, 4 groups for water-N-methylpyrrolidone system and the obtained NRTL interaction parameters for acetic acid-N-methylpyrrolidone system were used to predict the ternary VLE data. 9 groups of better interaction parameters combinations were screened out and the ternary predicted values agree well with the experimental values.
