Abstract

Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for tetrahydrofuran-water, tetrahydrofuran-n-hexane and tetrahydrofuran-water-n-hexane in miscible area were measured at 100 kPa by using improved Rose still. The fugacity coefficients for every component were calculated in order to correct the nonideal behavior in vapor phase, while the nonideal behavior in liquid phase was corrected by calculating the activity coefficients. VLE data for the two binary systems were correlated by nonlinear least square method, and NRTL/UNIQUAC model parameters for the two binary systems were regressed. The obtained two couples of model parameters combined with some ternary VLE data were used to correlate model parameters of (water+n-hexane) system, then three couples of model parameters were applied to predict some other ternary VLE data. The experimental value basically agrees with the predicted value.
