Abstract

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), untreated potassium titanate whiskers (PTW) and n-octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) treated PTW filled PTFE composites were prepared in this paper. The water contact angle of pure PTFE, untreated PTW and OTS treated PTW were studied. Meanwhile, the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of pure PTFE, untreated PTW and OTS treated PTW filled PTFE composites were also investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method and Jeziorny function. The results indicate that the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of pure PTFE and PTFE composites can be well described by Jeziorny function. PTW has the heterogeneous nucleation effect in PTW/PTFE composite, which accelerates the crystallization speed of PTFE. OTS treating can improve the hydroblic property of PTW, which strengthens the heterogeneous nucleation ability of PTW.
