Abstract

The Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with (2-thio)barbituric acid proceeded efficiently in reusable ionic liquids, EAN, BmimBF₄, and BmimPF₆ at room temperature in the absence of any catalyst with high yields.
