Abstract

Owing to their perfect hydrogen permeability and thermostability, palladium and palladium alloy membranes have been used as hydrogen separator and purifiers, and they can serve as membrane reactors for reactions such as dehydrogenation and hydrogen production, which integrates the reaction with separation and enhances the conversion and selectivity. The principle, preparation and characterization of the palladium-based composite membranes are reviewed, and a novel photocatalytic deposition technique in our research group is highlighted for membrane preparation.
