Abstract

The preparation and characterization of Ag/TiO2 membrane photocatalyst immobilized on activated carbon particle was studied. EDS analysis indicated that Ag deposited on the surface of TiO2 membrane. The valence state of Ag and the component of the Ag/TiO2 membrane were investigated by XPS. The photocatalytic degradation experiment was carried out in the p-chlorophenol solution with initial concentration higher than 600 mg/L. Effects of the dosage of photocatalyst, the initial concentration and pH value of the p-chlorophenol solution on the degradation rate was discussed. Results showed that the Ag/TiO2 membrane photocatalyst has higher degradation rate under the condition of the photocatalyst dosage 0.2 wt%, pH=4.0 and different initial concentrations. In comparison with degussa P25 TiO2 micro-powder photocatalyst, the Ag/TiO2 membrane has higher photocatalytic activity.
