Abstract

On the basis of forming ability study of rare earth doped ABS glass, its structure is studied by NMR and IR spectrum technology. The results show that the large metastable structure of ABS glass doped with rare earth are made up of [SiO4]4--[BO4]5-, [BO4]5--[BO3]3- and [BO3]3--[SiO4]4- units, while Sm3+ and other cations are filled in the glass network gaps. On the other hand, the spectrum results indicate that the ABS glass doped with Sm3+ have strong absorptive ability at the laser wavelength of 1.06 μm. When the content of rare earth reaches 20%, the transmission is only 0.03% at 1.06 μm.
