Abstract

In the process of preparation ultrafine powders with wet chemical method, the reaction, filtration, drying and calcination will affect the powders size and agglomeration. The effect of the reaction concentration, pH value, the kinds of surfacants and its concentration and the Zeta potential of the precipitation particles on the process of preparation ultrafine yttrium oxide powders with the method of oxalate precipitation were discussed. The experiment showed that the pH value and the surfacants affected the Zeta-potential of the precipitation particles and then decided the size and agglomeration of the yttrium oxalate precursor. The optimum reaction conditions were ascertained and fine crystal form and dispersal ultrafine yttrium oxides with the initial size 50-100 nm, average sizes 0.521 μm were synthesized. This clarified that it is possible to prepare ultrafine yttrium oxides by controlling reaction conditions on the basis of traditional method of oxalate precipitation.
