Abstract

The water soluble acrylic resin adhesive was successfully prepared by conventional free radical solution polymerization with butyl acrylate (BA), methylcrylate (MMA), methacrylic acid (MA) and acrylic acid (AA) as monomers, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator, deionized water and ethanol as solvent. By orthogonal test, the effects of solvent, monomer and chain transfer on the properties of acrylic resin were investigated, and the optimal synthesis formula was obtained. The prepared acrylic resin is lightly yellow and transparent, and it can be dissolved in water at any propotion. When its solid content is 10% at 20 °C, the solution viscosity is about 275 cP. In addition, the decomposition temperature of sample is 355.1 °C, and the monomers have fully participated in reactions. These indicate that this acrylic resin can be used as an enviromentally friendly and energy-saving adhensive for fluorescent lamps.
