Abstract

Recent progress in carbonylation of ethylene oxide to prepare 1, 3-propanediol is reviewed. Two process routes of hydroformylation, hydroesterification and their metal catalyst systems are analyzed in this article. Based on the carbonylation of ethylene oxide, further development of new bimetallic non-phosphine ligand catalyst with high activity and low cost has a practical significance for industrial applications of 1, 3-propanediol in China in the future.
