Abstract

Penicillin acylase is widely used in semi-synthetic antibiotics and intermediates preparation, separation of chiral compounds and peptide synthesis. The high efficient immobilization, which can enhance the adaptability of penicillin acylase to temperature, pH, polarity and the stability of its reuse, will become an inevitable choice and key for lengthening the life-time of penicillin acylase. We review the progress on the techniques of immobilizing penicillin acylase, and discuss their characteristics and catalysis in different reaction media. Furthermore, the perspectives of penicillin acylase are also presented.
