Abstract

Suqian Rengfang Zhihui Building is a 13 story reinforced concrete frame-shear wall structure with a height of 48.9 m and located in a region of high earthquake intensity. The building is one of the highest base-isolated building in China, its isolation devices consist of 53 laminated rubber bearings, 12 friction sliding bearings and 4 viscous dampers lying on the top of the basement. Calculation results of the nonlinear space time-history analysis by SAP2000 software showed that the horizontal earthquake action upon the superstructure can be greatly reduced by using the base isolation technique, the viscous dampers can effectively restrict the displacement of isolation layer meanwhile reduce the earthquake action of superstructure. Using the base isolation technique in this project demonstrates obvious technical and economic benefit.
