Abstract

In this paper, a series of new polymers with grafted amino acids were synthesized and characterized. The purpose of the research is to develop a kind of polymer drugs with grafted amino acids for the treatment of some patients. The preparations of polyvinyl alcohol and amino acid were described by using inorganic acid as catalyst. The reaction methods were investigated in order to find the optimal conditions for the highest yield and purity. The copolymers were analysed and characterized by IR and 1HNMR. The result indicated that the reaction products were what we needed and the yield of the polymer of polyvinyl alcohol and glycine was higher than that of polyvinyl alcohol and alanine.
