Abstract
Abstract: The catalytic properties of palladium and nickel, including sulfidized catalysts, as well as bimetallic Pd-Ag catalysts in the hydrogenation of 1,3-pentadiene to pentenes have been studied. Sulfidation of nickel and palladium catalysts leads to a significant increase in olefin selectivity. Palladium catalysts are more active at low reaction temperatures, however, sulfidized Ni catalysts are not inferior to palladium ones in olefin selectivity and productivity. Palladium catalysts with an ultralow palladium concentration (0.04 wt %) have been developed, which are an order of magnitude more potent than the other studied catalysts in terms of turnover frequency.
