Abstract
The main points of alkali-carbonate reaction are described and discussed in this paper. They include: 1) mechanism of expansion; 2) preventive measures; 3) cases of deterioration in China; 4) rapid method to determine the reactivity of carbonate rock; and 5) comparison of alkali-silica reaction with alkali-carbonate reaction.
