Abstract
The kinetics of catalytic hydrolysis from ethylene carbonate (EC) to ethylene glycol (EG) was experimentally studied under reaction conditions of 353-368 K, concentration of NY-1 catalyst 0.09 mol/L and the initial mole ratio of water and EC 1.5. The variance law of the total volume was determined that volume shrinkage ratio was constant under reaction conditions and the total volume of reaction system was linear variation. The kinetics model was put forward and the reaction rate equation was established. The research results showed that the reaction order for EC and water were 0.5 and 1.5 respectively in the system of NY-1 catalytic hydrolysis from EC, the activation energy was 49864.5 J/mol and the pre-exponential was 4.32 × 106 L/(mol·h).
