Abstract

In order to overcome the disadvantages of the anaerobic fluidized bed such as slow start-up, incremental loads with self-made carrier were used to increase CODcr concentration of the influent quickly. In the high mass transfer conditions, the COD concentration of influent can reach up to 4000 mg/L after 34 days' steady running. COD and TA removal rate of PTA wastewater can achieve 56% and 45%, respectively, at the volumetric loading rate COD of 9.14 kg/(m 3·d). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to analyze the morphology of the carrier. The result shows that the microorganisms mainly attach to the crack and groove of the carrier. The formed biofilm possesses good mechanical property and strong anti-impact load ability as well.
