Abstract

A series of bimetallic Zn-Sn modified MCM-41 with different amounts of tin and zinc were synthesized by direct hydrothermal method using sodium metasilicate nonahydrate, sodium stannate, zinc nitrate as silicon, tin, zinc source, respectively, and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as template. Structure of the obtained materials was characterized using ICP, XRD, TG-DTA, FTIR, HRTEM and N 2-adsorption techniques. Results revealed that all the materials exhibited a typical hexagonal arrangement of mesoporous structure with high surface area, narrow pore size distribution and relatively high thermal stability. The introduced heteroatoms were probably incorporated into the framework of MCM-41. Moreover, the prepared materials exhibited higher catalytic activity in the hydroxylation of phenol with H 2O 2 than that of the MCM-41 modified with mono metal.
