Abstract

Amorphous precursor was prepared by sol-gel combustion method, and then heat-treated at 750° for 2 h to obtain SmBO3 crystal. SEM micrograph showed that the average particle size was about 100 nm. Infrared absorption spectroscopy of SmBO3 showed that there were many absorption peaks in the range of 500 ~ 1500 cm-1. The diffuse reflection spectrum of SmBO3 displayed that the reflectivity decreased at wavelength from 1.05 μm to 1.15 μm. Therefore, SmBO3 might be a candidate of absorbent material used for light protection and light filter for laser at wavelength of 1.06 and 10.6 μm.
