Abstract

A novel manganese(II) complex with 4-(p-methylphenyl)-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl) -1,2,4-triazole (L), [MnL2(NCS)2], has been synthesized and its structure characterized by X-ray crystallography, FT-IR and ESI-MS spectroscopy. In the structure there is an inversion center at the manganese (II) atom which is octahedrally coordinated to four nitrogen atoms from two triaryltriazole ligands (L) and nitrogen atoms of two NCS- ions in a trans arrangement. Magnetic measurements show that the complex is high-spin species in the 75-300 K range. CCDC: 234894.
