Abstract

A novel 2D coordination polymer of [CdCl 2(obbm)] (1) (obbm=1,1'-(2,2'-oxybis(ethane-2,1-diyl))bis(1H-imidazole)) has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic, space group H1 with a=0.732 12 (11) nm, b=0.97057 (15) nm, c=1.053 34(16) nm, a=91.765(2)°,"=98.197(3) °, #=110.749(2)°, 1=0.690 10(18) nm 3, #,= 1.875 g-cm -3, K=2, F(000)=384, Goof= 1.039, R 1 =0.026 1, wR 2 =0.069 0. Complex 1 shows a novel two-dimensional (2D) layer network with the (6,3) topology and further extended into a 3D supramolecular structure through C-H|•• Cl hydrogen bonding interactions. In addition, complex 1 exhibits strong photoluminescent emission at room temperature. CCDC: 742051.
