Abstract

In this paper, 2,2-bipyrimidine (C8H6N4) and maleonitriledithiolate (mnt) are used as ligands to prepare copper coordination compound [Cu(mnt)(C8H6N4)] (1). The compound was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, single-crystal X-ray diffraction ect. We also reseach its properties through thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), electronic paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, magnetic analysis ect. Compound 1 is of monoclinic system space group P21/c with the cell dimensions: a=0.710 64(11) nm, b = 1.6270(2) nm, c= 1.27384(19) nm, β=98.926(2)°, V=1.4550(4) nm3. It shows layer-like stacking structure, where the distance between adjacent layers is 0.3360 nm. Furthermore, the date of magnetic property indicates that compound 1 exhibits paramagnetic properties.
