Abstract
An one pot method was utilized to synthesize 1 (p carboxyphenyl)biguanide hydrochloride (CPBGH) with p aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and dicyandiamide(DCDA) as starting materials in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The influences of the molar ratio of hydrochloric acid to p aminobenzoicacid. reaction temperature. reaction time and purification method on the yield of product were investi gated. The melting point of the product was determined, the structure of product was characterized by FT JR. H NMR and UV. and the content of CPBGH in product was analyzed by HPTE. When the molar ratio of hydrochloric acid to p aminobenzoic acid was 1.0. the reaction temperature was 80 °C. and the reaction time was 6.0 h. the yield of the product was about 86%and the product could be pu rifled easily and showed a preferable color. The content of CPHGH in the product was more than 97%.
