Abstract

Li3PO4 and Co3(PO4)2?8H2O precursors, precipitated within a micro reactor using ethyl alcohol as anti-solvent, are sintered to form nanosphere-like LiCoPO4. Even without carbon coating, the resulting sample with 2.1wt.% Li3PO4 existence presents surprisingly high initial discharge capacity (up to 164mAh/g and 787Wh/kg at 0.1C) and superior high rate performance (117mAh/g and 561Wh/kg at 5C).
