Abstract

The abstraction of poly(malic acid) (PMLA) from fermentation broth by ion exchange was studied. D296 was the optimal resin for PMLA abstraction by comparison of the adsorption capacity among the different kinds of resins. Through static and dynamic experiments, the optimal conditions of extracting PMLA were as follows: the fermentation broth was pretreated (pH 9.5), then flow through the fixed bed at rate of 1 BV/h until the volume reached 4BV. The elution of poly(malic acid) was carried out at the rate of 1 BV/h using 0.5 mol/L NaCl. Under the optimal conditions, the higher purity poly(malic acid) was separated and greatly reduced existing extraction of biological synthesis of PMLA costs, the extraction rate was 79.46% and the content of PMLA was 93.2%.
