Abstract

The effects of temperature from room temperature to 250 °C on the properties of shore hardness, shear strength, compression modulus and wear rate of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composites were studied respectively. Results reveal that shear strength and compression modulus of PTFE composites decrease quickly with the increase of temperature, and meeting a conic relation. While the property of shore hardness shows a linear decline with the increase of temperature. The inflection point of wear rate of the micro-nano cooperative reinforced PTFE composites appears at near 200 °C which is obvious higher than the level at home and abroad. A polymer wear prediction equation was established based on mechanical and wear properties under room temperature, and the properties of shore hardness, shear strength and compression modulus varied with temperature, which can predict wear rates quickly under different temperature.
